Of Pizza and Beauty Queens

It was pizza made beautiful as Pizza Hut opened it's newest branch  in the City of Love at Festive Walk Iloilo!
Bb. Pilipinas queens Eva Psychee Patalinjug (Bb. Pilipinas Grand International) and Michele Gumabao (Bb. Pilipinas Globe) graced the event captivating the Ilonggos with the charm and beauty.
Sharing the limelight, of course, was PIZZA that came in different flavors and sizes. From stuffed crust and pan pizza to one BIG pizza!
It was the ceremonial pizza that was used to mark the new store's opening and ushered everyone in!
And when everyone settled in, it was a gastronomic parade of Pizza Hut's specialties that made their way on our tables.
A Cream of Mushroom Soup started our foodie adventure. It was literally a creamy mushroom soup topped with herbed croutons.
On a healthier note came a Crab Salad Roll. It is made with crab sticks, cucumber and lettuce wrapped in rice paper and comes with a sesame soy dressing. A must-try!
Then there were TWO. Not Eva nor Michele but two variants of the newest Pizza Hut Baked Creations! These are rice-based side dishes that come in Cheesy Bacon and Mexican variants.
While the Cheesy Bacon literally has cheese and bacon on top of the rice, the Mexican has chili con carne with mixed vegetables that would make you shout "Ole"!
And if you dig in Chicken Wings, Pizza Hut got you covered with Garlic Parmesan and Honey BBQ Wings that come with mayo mustard or honey garlic dips.
And I love this Spaghetti Bolognese with Meatballs! More please...
Of course PIZZA! Check out the crowd favorite - Bacon Margherita which is simply basil, tomatoes and impored mozzarella cheese topped with bacon. And you can have it "stuffed crust" too!
And the classic Supreme Pizza with six delightful toppings - beef, pepperoni, seasoned pork, bellpeppers, mushroom and onions!
Stuffed with all the good stuff at Pizza Hut, it was one awesome and delicious opening made with pizza, pasta and beauty queens.
Only at Pizza Hut Festive Walk Iloilo!

Cassava Cake

Cassava cake is among the most popular Pinoy native delicacies. In Iloilo, one can find it in the stalls insides malls and groceries in ready to go boxes or in bite size pieces ready to satisfy one's cravings. But it is also easy to prepare as the ingredients can be mostly found in the wet market or even grocery stores. Here's a simple cassava cake recipe:

Valenciana

Ilonggos really love valenciana because most if not all have grown accustomed of having it in almost all occasions like fiesta, brithdays, reunions and all other occasions thus I love calling it as the "occasional dish".   Basically, " go, grow and glow " dish, it has the carbohydrates, protein and vitamins and minerals in just one spoonful. And it can come in its simplest form with just malagkit rice, pork, chorizo and bell peppers to some fancy with additions like raisins, peas, chicken, hardboiled egg (just garnish though), etc.  Here's the recipe for Valenciana Ingredients 3 cups Glutinous Rice ( malagkit ) 2 cups Pork, sliced 1 cup Pork, Beef or Chicken  Liver, sliced 2-3 pieces Chinese sausage, sliced 2-3 large red bell peppers, sliced lengthwise 1 cup Green Peas 3 small boxes Raisins 2 pcs.Onion, chopped 4 cloves garlic, crushed salt and ground pepper to taste  2 pcs. pork/chicken bouillon/broth cube

Rice Puto with Gata

Puto is among the most popular Filipino native delicacies . On it's own, it's one delicious snack but also eaten with dinuguan or in Iloilo, with a bowl of hot batchoy .  It comes in many forms and in many variants, the simplest of which is just plain and simple rice puto.  Here's a very simple recipe for Rice Puto with Gata
