ILOILO FOOD TRIP

Some like it dry. Some like it saucy. How do you like your Pancit Canton?  This popular noodles dish is present o n most Filipino occasions, aside from lechon baboy. And like many Filipino dishes, the pancit recipe varies from household to household much more in different restaurants and food place. Here's a basic recipe for a Saucy Pancit Canton where you can tweak using more or less ingredients of your choice.

Summer or not , Halo-halo is most probably the ultimate cooler and most popular Pinoy dessert not only here in the Philippines but also abroad. It's a visual feast of colors of its different ingredients, a melange of flavors and texture, and a perfect cooler/dessert. There are a thousand and one ways of making halo-halo but basically it's just a mix of crushed iced, milk, sugar and the works ( leche flan , ube halaya , kaong, nata, sago, sweetened beans, minatamis na saging, sweet potato, fresh fruit , and a whole lot more - yeah lots of it.). It is also often topped with ice cream, most popular of which is the ube (purple yam) flavor.

It was pizza made beautiful as Pizza Hut opened it's newest branch  in the City of Love at Festive Walk Iloilo! Bb. Pilipinas queens Eva Psychee Patalinjug ( Bb. Pilipinas Grand International ) and Michele Gumabao ( Bb. Pilipinas Globe ) graced the event captivating the Ilonggos with the charm and beauty. Sharing the limelight, of course, was PIZZA that came in different flavors and sizes. From stuffed crust and pan pizza to one BIG pizza!

Whether it's Kung Hei Fat Choi , Kiong Hee Huat Tsai  or Gong Xi Fa Cai , they all mean the same to us non-native speakers - it's CHINESE NEW YEAR ! And what would the Year of the (Earth) Pig bring us all? Most probably lots and lots of food! That's why I was excited to usher in the new year with a lunch buffet at The Promenade at Days Hotel Iloilo .   The bountiful and delicious food would be a fitting start and not to mention the thrill of the fortune cookies they have on their dessert station.The cookie is a delicious treat itself but the "fortune" it contains is the most sought after. Of course, it's up to us to believe it or not...
