Victorias Foods brings "A Taste of Negros" home

Since the 70s, Victorias Foods Corporation (VFC) has been one of the most loved and more successful food companies.  Among the group’s founding and more successful products are their Spanish Style Bangus and Sardines in Soya Oil. 

Created from a heritage recipe born in a Negrense kitchen and cherished through generations, these premier products use only sardines caught from the fishing grounds of the Visayan Sea and milkfish farmed in the fish pens of Bacolod, where the brackish water is perfect for raising the finest quality bangus.


Swimming in rich soya oil, the delicious edibles are also wonderfully healthy and mouthwatering whether enjoyed on their own or as a key ingredient in a dish. 

Further demonstrating VFC’s loyalty to the region where it has its origins, as well as their promise to using only quality ingredients, most of what goes into Victorias Foods Spanish Style Bangus and Sardines in Soya Oil are sourced in the Visayas, bringing those real Ilonggo flavors to Filipino homes.

Partnering with Chef Tope Arañador of PUNOT Restaurant, a young and contemporary Ilonggo chef, VFC created 15 recipes using Victorias Foods Spanish Style Bangus and Sardines in Soya Oil.

A graduate of Center for Culinary Arts (CCA), Chef Tope honed his kitchen skills at Zenaris Restaurant in Canada, Mandarin Oriental, Stella and Madison Restaurants in Manila and since 2013, he has been bringing creative and exciting creations to the Ilonggos as the owner and head chef of PUNOT Restaurant.  

With his passion for Ilonggo gastronomy and Visayan comfort food, Chef Tope adds unexpected twists to favorite dishes with Victorias Foods Spanish Style Bangus and Sardines in Soya Oil , making everything truly a delightful and minatood na sabor Bisaya

I just need 2 let u know that ur sardines r the best so far. I can't get enough of them, not the BANGUS. I always keep enough 2 make sure, I don't run out. Where or how can I purchase a box or 2âť“

Ilonggos really love valenciana because most if not all have grown accustomed of having it in almost all occasions like fiesta, brithdays, reunions and all other occasions thus I love calling it as the "occasional dish".   Basically, " go, grow and glow " dish, it has the carbohydrates, protein and vitamins and minerals in just one spoonful. Simple Pochero Ilonggo

POCHERO. The most familiar recipes are the ones stewed with tomatoes (or tomato sauce) or the Cebu variant which is like bulalo or nilaga, but the pochero I grew up with is just very simple. It's just pork cooked with potatoes and/or saba (cooking banana) with kamote tops or pechay. I just love the mild sweetness of the broth brought about by the bananas to the savory broth. Or sometimes, it tends lean more of the tomato based recipe, just without the tomato itself or sauce. The recipe is just very simple - just boil the pork first until tender. Add the "hard" veggies like potatoes, saba, carrots, etc then finally when the leafy veggies when its almost done. Just season it with salt or broth cubes for a savory broth. Pork Sarciado

This savory and delicious combination of pork ang vegetables is always an extra rice magnet. Much more so if drizzled with hot sauce, a personal favorite. A much simpler version of Pork Menudo, the only difference is the absence of tomato sauce. Just some bread crumbs to thicken the sauce. No need for fancy ingredients either, to give its Spanish origins a gastronomic salute but just in its simplest form, it could already be a hunger satisfier. Now let's begin...
