Dunkin' Coffee Day : A Filling of Good Vibes



Ilonggos seemed to be cheering "Half-Half Hooray" all-day today brought about by the excitement for the Dunkin' Coffee Day.


On this caffeine-overload day, all medium sized HOT or ICED coffee at Dunkin' are 50% OFF its regular price! That's PhP 25 only from 7am to 7pm at all Dunkin' Donuts stores nationwide! 


Now on its third year, Dunkin' Coffee aims to spread a lot or good vibes to the people who get their usual coffee fix at Dunkin' Donuts - and that could probably be YOU!


With a cup of ICED coffee already on hand to perk my Friday, I suddenly realized that being at Dunkin' Donuts without ordering any doughnuts seems like a gastronomical sin of epic proportions!


With all the mouth-watering doughnuts on display, I just gotta have one. 


And the Quezo Duo doughtnut got me! I already love it as a munchkin so how can I say no to a bigger one with cream cheese glaze and cheese trickles?


But then again, everybody's all-time favorite just seemed to be calling my name and waving at me! Can you refuse DD's Bavarian filled donut?


And then came my fellow members of the Iloilo Bloggers Inc. (some of them anyway) and the Good Vibes Squad was more than ready to celebrate Dunkin' Coffee Day!


With the "savings" we had from the coffee discount plus chipping a few more pesos, we got the ultimate Dunkin' barkada treat - the viral Munchkins Bucket!


With 40 pieces of the well-loved Dunkin' Butternut - plain or choco, this bucket costs only PhP349 - a savings of PhP 51 as each Munchkin costs PhP10!


That alone had us cheer another round of "Half-Half Hooray" as we took turns having a selfie, taking a groufie, enjoying our hot and iced coffee, more rounds of selfie and groufie - all just good vibes in the quiet little nook at Dunkin' Donuts along Gen. Luna Street across St. Paul's.


But that would have been a nightmare and chaotic scene if one of Dunkin's celebrity endorser - Piolo Pascual, dropped by the branch like what he did in some Metro Manila branches.


As if seeing his heart-melting smile wasn't enough to wake anyone up, the Philippines' Ultimate Heartthrob gave out free cups of coffee in Dunkin' Donuts Strata, Fisher Mall Quezon Ave. and BGC 25/7 branches.


One day (12 hours, that is) is surely not enough for a special day to have the feel and our cup's fill of that Dunkin' Coffee Feelin'. 



And if you missed this year's Dunkin' Coffee Day, don't fret because this event will come back even bigger and better next year.

Valenciana

Ilonggos really love valenciana because most if not all have grown accustomed of having it in almost all occasions like fiesta, brithdays, reunions and all other occasions thus I love calling it as the "occasional dish".   Basically, " go, grow and glow " dish, it has the carbohydrates, protein and vitamins and minerals in just one spoonful. Native Bibingka

There are two types of bingka I've grown up with. First is the flat and "coconutty" ( with lots of buko strips) bingka made famous by the bingkahans in the plazas of Iloilo City especially in Molo and Jaro plus Plaza Libertad. But the most famous is the one in Mohon, Arevalo which gave birth to the popular bingka sa Mohon. Flat bingka from Mohon And second is the one closer to home, in my hometown which before only appears during Semana Santa but now almost year round. This is what we refer to a puto-bingka as it looks and taste like toasted puto. Here's a sample recipe of this Puto-Bingka

Simple Pochero Ilonggo

POCHERO. The most familiar recipes are the ones stewed with tomatoes (or tomato sauce) or the Cebu variant which is like bulalo or nilaga, but the pochero I grew up with is just very simple. It's just pork cooked with potatoes and/or saba (cooking banana) with kamote tops or pechay. I just love the mild sweetness of the broth brought about by the bananas to the savory broth. Or sometimes, it tends lean more of the tomato based recipe, just without the tomato itself or sauce. The recipe is just very simple - just boil the pork first until tender. Add the "hard" veggies like potatoes, saba, carrots, etc then finally when the leafy veggies when its almost done. Just season it with salt or broth cubes for a savory broth.
